The Australian Government’s Caring for our Country Business Plan 2009-2010 was released last week. 2.       Landcare Placestories in NSW
Landcare Placestories, supported by DAFF, Feral Arts and Landcare NSW Inc, is an information communication tool that shares local knowledge, local stories and local views on sustainable farm practices and natural resource management issues across New South Wales.  For more information and to view any of the range o f stor ies visit www.landcarensw.placestories.com/

4.       CVA’s Corporate Connect
Toyota Australia and Conservation Volunteers Australia have recently launched Corporate Connect, an online service dedicated to connecting volunteers from the business community to hands on environmental projects. 6.       New resources on Weeds CRC website
The Cooperative Research Centre for Australian Weed Management has designed a set of resources addressing a range of weed control related issues:

      ‘What does your garden grow?’ has been designed as a short course aimed at Community Colleges, TAFE’s, the nursery industry etc to provide information to the general community to increase their awareness of the problems weeds cause and how they can be controlled. 7.       Agri-Food Industry Skills Council Indigenous Pathfinder
The Agri-Food Industry Skills Council is pleased to announce that it has prepared a full Toolkit and all support materials that are designed to build skills development capacity and promote engagement strategies within indigenous communities. 8.       Historic Murray Darling report

The first complete report (Podcast version, 25 Nov 08) on future water availability in all 18 regions of the Murray-Darling Basin has been released. In this podcast, Dr Tom Hatton, Director of CSIRO’s Water for a Healthy Country Flagship, explains what it means for the industries and people in Australia’s struggling Basin. 9.       Call for nominations to lists of threatened species

The annual call for nominations for the lists of threatened species, ecological   communities and key threatening processes has opened and was recently advertised in all major Australian newspapers.  The conservation themes for this assessment cycle are: – Terrestrial, estuarine and near-shore environments of Australia’s coasts; and
– Rivers, wetlands and groundwater dependant species and ecosystems of inland Australia.

10.   Free DVD – ‘A Step Ahead – Guiding farmers through change’
This new DVD from the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Victoria aims to help farm businesses plan for and cope with change. The DVD covers a range of topics including adopting technology, working off-farm, succession planning and making changes and also includes contact details for a range of organisations which offer support and independent advice. 11.   Caring for our Country investment proposals for 2009-2010
The Australian Government’s Business Plan for 2009-2010 seeks investment proposals that contribute to the delivery of Caring for our Country targets. If you wish to submit an investment proposal for a project, you should read the business plan and visit the Caring for our Country funding web pages for infor mation (available soon) about the requirements of applications. Please note: small projects ($20,000-100,000 per annum), medium (up to $2-3million per annum) and large scale (up to $20million over 4 years) are being sought. Closing date 6 Mar 2009. The business plan can be accessed at www.nrm.gov.au/publications/books/business-plan.html and information for applications will be available online soon at www.nrm.gov.au/index.html
