Myrtle Rust

A new threat to biodiversity has emerged in Australia and as is so often the case our best weapon is knowledge. Myrtle rust is a plant pathogen which affects species within the Myrtaceae family. It’s important that as many groups and individuals as possible are able to identify the symptoms of Myrtle Rust as it will pose a huge threat to the flora of the Otways if it can becomes established. The Department of Primary Industries and their biosecurity unit have produced a range of documents identifying Myrtle Rust and how to act once you do so. Please take the time to read these attached documents as they may become an extremely important resource in the coming months.
