The Soil is the Answer – One-Day Free Agricultural Seminar

Regenerative farming seminar Nov 22 2010

“THE SOIL IS THE ANSWER”

ONE-DAY FREE AGRICULTURAL SEMINAR, WITH PROFESSOR PAUL HEPPERLY OF THE WORLD-RENOWNED RODALE INSTITUTE:

Subjects covered will include:

  • Farming for increased soil fertility and improved water retention;
  • Increasing plants’ access to minerals in the soil;
  • Healthy soils, healthy animals, healthy people;
  • Carbon sequestration from the atmosphere to the soil and how
  • it could benefit farmers;
  • The question of Biochar;
  • Reducing soil acidification risks and achieving balanced soil pH
  • The Rodale system of biologically based no till;
  • Innovative methods of composting based on the Soil Aggregation model originally proposed in Australia;
  • Methods of management and case studies on agricultural transformations; and much more:

Biological farming achieves outstanding results, come drought, floods or strong winds. The organic crops stand tall and green at times when other crops are devastated by extreme natural events.

Even when we get good winter rains, it is an advantage to have soils that will hold water throughout long dry summers.  That is what biological farming is about. The soil farmed using biological methods retains its water: that will be more and more important as Australia continues to experience more dry years compared to wet ones.

With the rising cost of chemical fertilizers, farmers are looking how to maximize their returns and lower their expenses: this is another subject that will be covered in the seminar.
