Calling for Expressions of Interest for Landcare Projects 2011

Are you interested in improving the environmental health of your property? We are currently accepting expressions of interest for 2011 projects. Typical projects may include; fencing off a waterway and providing off-stream watering to exclude stock and improve water quality; revegetating a steep gully to stabilise a site of erosion; direct seeding with indigenous seed to create a biodiversity corridor; fencing off remnant bush; removing environmental weeds to protect native habitat or topping up existing Landcare project to include greater diversity. Please contact our office for an EOI form. NB Given the high number of Landslip related calls to our office since the big rain event in mid August SOLN is doing our best to track down funding and expert advice. We will keep you posted on what we are able to assist with.

Landcare Week 6th – 13th September

Landcare Australia is giving every Australian the opportunity to help scientists across the globe study the impact of climate change on our ecosystems by monitoring, collecting and recording data from their own backyards. People can register to become citizen scientists as part of this free activity during Landcare Week. Participants will observe and record what is happening in their own environment such as when frogs are calling, what birds are migrating and what plants are flowering. “All around Australia, Landcare Groups and their volunteers are already making observations about species and animals habitats and the impact of climate change in their local communities. This September we are appealing to all Australians to get their hands dirty and volunteer to become citizen scientists,” said Landcare Australia CEO, Heather Campbell.
